Job summary

Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking an OR/Surgical Services Technician to ensure surgical rooms and instruments are sterilized, equipped, and supplied. Duties align with a circulating nurse in human medicine.

Work hours include 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. with weekend and holiday call. Rabies vaccination series and titer checks are provided by Auburn as per CDC guidelines.

Qualifications

• Experience in surgical services practices.
• CRCST and CSPDT certifications are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assisting surgeons as needed by retrieving needed surgical instruments and equipment from surgical supply.
• Cleaning operating rooms between surgical cases and making sure rooms are ready for the next case.
• Positioning patients for surgery and performing aseptic prep of surgery site; and maintaining cleanliness and sterility of operating rooms.
• Decontamination and sterilization of instrumentation using an autoclave and a vaporized hydrogen peroxide sterilizer.
• Maintenance of surgical packs and instruments.
• Perform other duties as assigned
