Job summary

Washington State University is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) for the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Pullman, WA. The role performs complex clinical tests for animal diseases, with emphasis on quality control and instrument maintenance.

Qualifications

• MLT requires an accredited Associate’s Degree and ASCP certification with 2 years in a clinical lab.
• MLS requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology and ASCP certification with 2 years in a clinical lab.
• Ability to be available for on-call emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Ensure quality control requirements are met and document results.
• Calibrate, troubleshoot, and perform routine maintenance on instruments.
• Prepare reagents, standards, and control samples for testing.
• Supervise, train, and schedule temporary staff.
• Perform laboratory statistics, purchasing, and SOP preparation.
• Support development and evaluation of new procedures.
• Respond to on-call emergency testing as needed.

Associate’s Degree in Medical Technology
