Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking a knowledgeable Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced Internal Medicine department. You will liaise between internists and clients, relay patient histories, care instructions, lab results, and updates.

You will assist with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, fill prescriptions, take x-rays, and obtain lab samples, with strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required.

Qualifications

• Experience as a veterinary technician in a clinical setting.
• Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required.
• Experience supporting internal medicine procedures and client communication.

Responsibilities

• Set up constant rate infusions (CRI).
• Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.).
• Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia.
• Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures.
• Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway). Clean and maintain equipment following procedure.
• Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations.
• Additional job duties as assigned.
