Job summary

University of Florida seeks an Emergency & Critical Care Assistant (CARE) to join our 24/7 ICU/ER team on the Main Campus in Gainesville, FL. This full-time role provides hands-on patient care, infection control, and supports DVMs and technicians with triage, restraint, intake and documentation.

You’ll gain experience with wildlife cases (overnights) and rotate through the Blood Bank service, learning transfusion operations.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, bend, kneel, pull, push, twist and stand for extended periods.
• Infection control and sanitation are essential responsibilities across ICU/ER.
• Support for DVMs and technicians with triage, restraint, intake and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on patient care (feeding, walking, grooming).
• Assist DVMs and technicians with triage, restraint, intake and documentation.
• Support infection control through cleaning areas and equipment, sterilization, and stocking.
