Job summary

Colorado State University Veterinary Health seeks a Veterinary Assistant I for the Emergency and Critical Care service in Fort Collins, CO. Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED plus one year of experience caring for animals OR related education and/or experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position equal to one year.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to Critical Care Service patients under the direction of senior nurses and clinicians.
• Observe, assess, and recognize changes in patient status; triage and communicate concerns.
• Restrain patients to ensure safety of patient, staff and others.
• Assist professional veterinary students, interns, residents, faculty, and staff with clinical techniques and procedures.
• Maintain accurate medical documentation and billing, including EMR, orders, and discharge preparation.
• Keep service areas clean, organized and stocked; monitor expiration dates and submit work orders as needed.
