Position Overview:

The Hospital Manager works daily to develop an efficient and effective hospital support team by fostering an environment of trust, teamwork, and accountability. The Hospital Manager partners with the Veterinarian to provide an efficient and profitable operation by driving revenue and managing costs while creating a hospital culture based on high-quality patient care and excellent customer service.

Essential Position Functions:
  1. Supervises the staff within all hospital support departments; achieves and maintains all labor goals.
  2. Hires and trains office and technical clinic support staff; responsible for new hire paperwork.
  3. Orients and trains new clinic staff to the hospital and duties.
  4. Reviews work performance of direct reports, constructively delivers feedback, resolves personnel issues, and discusses with the Regional Manager weekly.
  5. Conducts timely performance appraisals.
  6. Documents and reports accidents; files appropriate reports.
  7. Writes policies/procedures relating to all technical aspects of the hospital and presents for approval.
  8. Manages schedules for technical and administrative staff; coordinates with the DVM.
  9. Monitors Workforce Management for missed punches and overtime hours daily.
  10. Administers daily operations.
  11. Works with the PetVet Care Centers support team to ensure compliance with all administrative responsibilities.
  12. Monitors budgets, purchases equipment and supplies, and oversees the maintenance of the facility.
  13. Responsible for submitting contract veterinarian invoices, local vendor invoices, ensuring invoice accuracy, and obtaining W9s from vendors.
  14. Assists in resolving pet owner issues when appropriate.
  15. Reviews revenue, labor, and employee issues with PetVet leadership weekly; aims to meet set goals.
  16. Responsible for all local accounting functions; ensures daily financial data accuracy.
  17. Oversees inventory management, documentation, and systems.
  18. May oversee billing practices; reviews and maintains billing accuracy and charge capture.
  19. May handle contracts or negotiations with insurance providers.
  20. Maintains compliance with current licensure and displays licenses; keeps licenses for DVMs updated.
  21. Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, health science, or related field preferred.
  • At least five years of office management experience, including two years supervisory experience.
  • Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) or Master of Healthcare Administration (MHA) preferred.
  • Equivalent education, certification, training, and/or experience considered.

  • Customer service skills in a courteous, prompt, and efficient manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant software.
  • Ability to establish productive relationships.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work around animals and hazardous materials.
  • Physical ability to perform tasks involving standing, walking, lifting, and other physical activities.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Additional Information:

Pay Range: $60,000—$85,000 USD
