Job summary

Puget Sound Veterinary Specialty & Emergency in Gig Harbor, Washington seeks an experienced Hospital Administrator to lead daily hospital operations, partner with the Medical Director, and drive growth.

You will recruit and develop staff, monitor financial performance, improve workflows, and ensure exceptional client and patient care in a fast-paced specialty and emergency environment.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years leadership and management experience in veterinary medicine or healthcare
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
• Experience managing DVMs, physicians, or other professional staff preferred
• Strong understanding of hospital operations and financial performance
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
• People-focused leader who balances compassion with accountability
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced specialty and emergency environment
• Commitment to gold-standard patient care and continuous learning

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily hospital operations with Medical Director and leadership team
• Foster a culture of compassion, inclusion, accountability, innovation, and collaboration
• Recruit, onboard, coach, and develop hospital team members
• Support DVMs with administrative, HR, performance, and operational needs
• Monitor financial performance, labor costs, revenue, and key metrics
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows and client/team experience
• Oversee scheduling, facilities, equipment, compliance, and other needs
• Handle employee and client concerns with empathy and professionalism
• Build relationships with referring veterinarians and represent PSVSE in the local community
• Partner on strategic planning, business development, and growth initiatives
