Job summary

Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota is seeking a dependable Custodial Worker for our Oakdale veterinary hospital. You’ll help keep clinical and non-clinical areas clean, safe, and ready for use, supporting our veterinary care teams.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect lobbies, hallways, break rooms, meeting rooms, restrooms, offices, exam rooms, and shared treatment areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and maintain floors.
• Empty trash and recycling.
• Clean high-touch surfaces, glass, fixtures, furniture, and common areas.
• Restock paper products and other designated supplies.
• Follow a scheduled deep-cleaning rotation for vents, walls, baseboards, fixtures, and other areas.
• Perform scheduled terminal cleaning of procedure and surgical rooms.
• Carefully move medical equipment when necessary to clean around and underneath it—and put it back where it belongs.
• Help keep parking lots, entrances, and outdoor areas free of litter and pet waste.
• Assist with light snow shoveling and salting during Minnesota winters.
• Monitor cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Report maintenance, equipment, or safety concerns.

Custodial Worker – Veterinary Hospital

At Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota (AERC), excellent veterinary medicine depends on more than doctors, technicians, and advanced equipment.

It also depends on someone making sure the hospital is clean, safe, organized, and ready for whatever walks through the door next.

We're looking for a dependable Custodial Worker to help care for our veterinary hospital facilities.

If you're someone who notices the fingerprints on the glass, the corner everyone else forgot, or the floor that could use one more pass—and you take pride in leaving a space better than you found it—we'd love to meet you.

What You'll Do

You'll help keep both clinical and non-clinical areas clean, sanitary, and ready for use.

A Few Important Things to Know

This is a veterinary hospital, so you'll be working around patients, medical equipment, and active clinical teams.

This is not primarily an animal-care position. You'll certainly see plenty of dogs and cats, but your role is focused on keeping the environment safe and clean for them.

You should be comfortable working around animals, medical environments, cleaning chemicals, and the occasional mess that comes with a 24/7 veterinary hospital.

Previous custodial, housekeeping, environmental services, healthcare, hotel, or commercial cleaning experience is helpful, but we're willing to train the right person.
