Job summary

Hinsdale Animal Hospital offers a veterinary externship experience designed to provide students with hands-on clinical exposure. Under supervision, you’ll work with Associate Veterinarians to gather histories, perform exams, develop treatment plans, and observe or assist in surgeries.

Externals gain communication experience with the medical team and clients while completing two to eight week placements. A travel/living stipend of $1,500 is available.

Qualifications

• Veterinary students in clinical portion eligible for externships.
• Externship focuses on gaining hands-on clinical experience and professional communication.
• Ability to gather histories, perform exams, and assist in procedures.

Responsibilities

• Gather patient histories and perform physical exams with supervision.
• Create treatment plans, perform diagnostics, and dentistry services as appropriate.
• Observe/assist or perform surgical procedures under supervision.
• Develop communication skills with medical team, clients, and staff.
