Job summary

National Veterinary Associates (NVA) offers an externship experience at its hospitals, providing hands-on clinical exposure and mentorship from supervising veterinarians. Students will gain competencies in history taking, exams, treatment planning, diagnostics, dentistry, surgery observation/participation, and client communication.

Externships range from two to eight weeks and are offered to students in their final clinical year.

Responsibilities

• Gaining experience in gathering patient histories
• Performing physical examinations
• Creating treatment plans
• Conducting diagnostics and dentistry services
• Observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures
• Medical management of patients
• Improving communication with the medical team, clients, and support staff
