The Animal Hospital of Waco offers up to a $1,000 travel stipend for Clinical Year externships. The Animal Hospital of Waco is a three‑doctor small animal practice that has proudly served the pets of Waco for over 60 years. Our clinic provides the ability to work with a diverse range of cases, including wellness visits, sick pets, and surgical procedures. We pride ourselves on being a supportive team that values collaboration, mentorship, and ongoing growth and development. Additionally, we are conveniently located just half a block from Magnolia Table!
We are a 4,000 square foot facility with six exam rooms. We are equipped with digital radiography, ultrasound, therapy laser, platelet‑rich plasma (PRP), warming unit, in‑house laboratory, Idexx referral lab, a surgery suite with two heated surgical tables, anesthetic monitors, IV pumps, and a dental unit with a drill.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, we all have some things in common: an environment that is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and provides exceptional service to animals and the people who love them.
Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules.
Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel or living expense stipend.
All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate in National Veterinary Associates externships.
