Job summary

A leading veterinary care organization is offering an externship for 4th year veterinary students at their clinic. Students will work closely with experienced veterinarians, gaining hands-on experience in patient care and clinical procedures. The externship ranges from two to eight weeks and includes a travel/living expense stipend of $1,500. This is an excellent opportunity to develop clinical and communication skills in a supportive environment.

• Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Responsibilities

• Gathering patient histories and performing physical exams.
• Creating treatment plans and diagnostics.

Job description

North End Pet Hospital is a small but mighty clinic with a great team! We have many loyal, happy patients and clients who have been coming to us for years. Our outstanding DVMs practice great medicine with a focus on wellness and preventative care.

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creation of treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. North End Pet Hospital offers externships to 4th year veterinary students.

Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount for North End Pet Hospital is $1,500.
