Join to apply for the Veterinary Extern - General Practice role at NVA General Practice, a four‑doctor small‑animal practice located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Our compassionate and knowledgeable team is dedicated to providing high‑quality comprehensive care to our patients and their families. We have been serving the Sioux Falls area since 2005. Patients are primarily dogs and cats. Our facility includes an in‑house laboratory with CBC, chemistry, and urinalysis machines, and we offer laser surgery, ultrasound, digital radiographs, and digital dental imaging.

Responsibilities

• Gain knowledge and skills in patient histories and physical examinations.
• Create comprehensive treatment plans.
• Assist with diagnostics, including lab work and imaging.
• Participate in surgical and dental procedures under supervision.
• Manage medical care and follow‑up for patients.
• Provide customer service and communicate with clients.
• Educate clients about pet health and preventive care.

Externship duration ranges from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. The position is offered to students in the final clinical year of veterinary school.
