Job description

Join to apply for the Veterinary Extern - General Practice role at NVA General Practice.

An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand daily operations and gain hands-on clinical experience. While each hospital is unique, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.

Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, assisting or performing surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Externs will also develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Externship durations range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. At Oak Knoll Animal Hospital, externships are designed for 3rd and 4th-year students.

Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click HERE for stipend details. The stipend at Oak Knoll Animal Hospital is $1,500.
