An externship at an NVA hospital offers students the chance to understand daily operations and gain hands-on clinical experience. Our hospitals are supportive environments committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and their owners.

Externs will shadow doctors and technicians, work up cases, assist in surgeries, develop anesthesia protocols, and learn about daily practice life. While busy, we strive to make the experience enjoyable while providing high-quality care.

Externship durations range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. All veterinary students in the clinical phase are encouraged to participate. Students may receive a travel/living expense stipend; at Churchville Veterinary Clinic, the stipend is $1,500, with an additional $500 travel stipend available.
