Join National Veterinary Associates for an enriching externship opportunity that provides hands-on experience in veterinary clinical operations. You'll work alongside skilled Associate Veterinarians, gaining insights into patient care, diagnostics, and surgical procedures while enhancing your communication skills in a supportive environment.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital offers students a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital is unique, they all share common qualities: a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent medicine, and a focus on providing exceptional service to animals and their owners.
Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing or assisting with surgical procedures, and managing medical cases. Additionally, externs will have opportunities to enhance their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Most externship durations at Midland Animal Clinic range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of their class year, are encouraged to participate in NVA externships.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Click here to view the stipend amounts and details on the stipend program.
