Abqpetcarehospital in Lenoir, North Carolina is offering a unique externship experience for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students. This position focuses on hands-on clinical experience in a supportive environment, allowing students to work closely with Associate Veterinarians.
Externs will assist in patient management, surgical procedures, and communication with the medical team and clients, with the possibility of a travel/living expense stipend. Comprehensive benefits are available for eligible employees, including medical, dental, vision, and a 401k plan.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Students will work closely with the supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical examinations, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing and assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship experiences typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. An externship at Lenoir Veterinary Hospital is specifically designed for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.
Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
