Job description

Gunston Animal Hospital is an AAHA-accredited hospital in the Greater DC area. We are a small animal GP practice offering appointments, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry. We invite veterinary students to extern with us. We are a close-knit team that values collaboration and would love to work with you!

Externs will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance clinical skills and improve communication with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. These externships are available to 4th-year veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education.
