Job summary

NVA General Practice is looking for Veterinary Externs to gain hands-on clinical experience while working closely with experienced veterinarians. Externs will engage deeply in patient care, diagnostics, and surgical assistance, supported in a community-centered environment. A $2,500 travel stipend is available to eligible veterinary students.

Clark Animal Hospital offers a $2,500 travel stipend for clinical year rotations!

An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice and gain valuable hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital has its own characteristics, they all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and their owners.

Our hospital has been a cornerstone of the community since 1960. We are currently designing a new facility, just three blocks from our current location, which will offer updated space and new growth opportunities.

Externs will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, assisting or performing surgical procedures, and managing patient care. Additionally, externs will develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. These opportunities are available exclusively to veterinary students in their clinical years.
