An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of a veterinary practice and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Students will work with supervising Associate Veterinarians in a walk‑in clinic that handles a wide variety of cases, including wellness visits, injury and sick visits, spays, neuters, mass removals, soft‑tissue surgeries, and dentistry.
Externships at Lake Meridian Animal Hospital are designed for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students currently in the clinical portion of their education.
Durations range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend, with a stipend amount of $1,500 for Lake Meridian Animal Hospital.
