National Veterinary Associates in Herndon, Virginia offers a unique externship experience for veterinary students. This hands-on program allows students to understand the day-to-day operations of a veterinary practice while providing essential clinical experience.
Responsibilities include gathering patient histories, conducting physical exams, implementing treatment plans, and managing medical care. The externship may last from two to eight weeks, providing valuable exposure in a supportive environment committed to excellent service.
Participants may also receive a travel/living expense stipend and will enjoy a robust benefits program, including medical, dental, and paid time off.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day-to-day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Although each NVA hospital is unique, they share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and exceptional service to animals and the people who love them.
Externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students are encouraged to participate. Students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
