East Suburban Animal Clinic offers a hands-on externship for veterinary students to gain practical experience in a supportive environment with a focus on exceptional animal care. Students will engage with experienced veterinarians, perform a variety of tasks, and develop essential professional skills, with the externship duration ranging from two to eight weeks.
East Suburban Animal Clinic is a small animal practice with 5+ doctors that values sharing knowledge and experience with veterinary students. We foster a supportive culture and focus on exceptional care, including interests in dentistry, ultrasound, and nutrition. We are committed to giving back to the community.
Veterinary students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain hands-on experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, observing or assisting in surgical procedures, and managing medical cases. Students will also develop their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.
Externship durations range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. These externships are available to students in their final clinical year of veterinary school.
