Overview

Veterinary Extern - General Practice at NVA General Practice. This externship provides hands-on experience in small animal care and offers learning opportunities at two hospitals located in Clarksville, TN (north of Nashville).

Responsibilities

• Assist with gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, and diagnostics under the supervision of a veterinarian.
• Provide dentistry services, observe or assist with surgical procedures, and participate in medical management of patients.
• Gain experience with echocardiography (echo), ultrasounds, routine exams, and emergencies.
• Develop communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Eligibility & Details

• Externship duration typically ranges from 2 to 8 weeks; designed for 3rd and 4th year veterinary students.
• Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
• The externship will be conducted at two hospitals in Clarksville, TN.
