Job description

Internship Overview

An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice, and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Responsibilities

• Perform physical exams
• Create treatment plans
• Diagnostic evaluation of patients
• Provide dentistry services
• Observe/assist or perform surgical procedures
• Manage medical care of patients

Students will also practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Duration and Housing

Externship experiences range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at State Street Animal Clinic are designed for clinical year students. Housing can often be offered to out‑of‑town students.

Stipend

Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. The stipend amount for State Street Animal Clinic is $1,000.
