A leading global pet care organization offers externship experiences at its hospitals. Veterinary students can gain hands-on clinical experience, develop their skills in a supportive environment, and receive additional stipends to assist with travel/living expenses. This unique opportunity allows for mentorship and professional growth.
An externship experience at an NVA hospital provides students with a unique opportunity to understand the daily operations of a veterinary practice and gain hands-on clinical experience. While each NVA hospital has its unique aspects, all share a supportive environment committed to excellent medicine and providing exceptional care to animals and their owners.
During your externship, you can shadow Associate Veterinarians and experienced technicians to maximize your learning. You will have opportunities to work on cases alongside the doctor, assist in surgeries, develop anesthesia protocols, and ask questions to learn more about daily veterinary practice. Although our days are busy, we strive to make the experience enjoyable while delivering high-quality care.
Externship durations typically range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate.
Veterinary students in the clinical phase of their education may be eligible for a travel/living expense stipend. Please click here to view stipend amounts and details about the stipend program.
An additional $500 travel stipend is offered for externships at this hospital, in addition to the listed stipend amounts.
