About the Clinic:
Located in Austin, Hill Country Animal Hospital is a full-service small animal practice known for its high standard of care, compassionate team, and strong client relationships. As part of the NVA network, our clinic blends small-town warmth with access to advanced diagnostics and procedures, offering students a well-rounded, hands-on externship experience.

Externship Overview:
Veterinary students will work closely with our experienced associate veterinarians and gain practical experience in:

Conducting physical exams and gathering patient histories

Developing and implementing diagnostic and treatment plans

Assisting with or observing surgical and dental procedures

Participating in diagnostics and case management

Practicing communication and client education

Observing the operational side of a busy general practice

Program Details:
Location: Austin, TX
Duration: minimum 2 weeks, up to 4 weeks (flexible based on student/hospital schedules)
Open to: DVM students
Stipend: Up to $1,500 available for students in the clinical phase
