Job summary

The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking a dedicated veterinary general practitioner to join our faculty as a Veterinary Curriculum Instructor (Lecturer, full-time). This position emphasizes teaching and mentorship, with responsibilities across clinical skills labs, OSCEs, and years 1–3 DVM instruction.

Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent, at least three years in general practice or mixed/livestock specialty, and be able to obtain Ohio veterinary licensure.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience in general veterinary practice or mixed/livestock species specialized practice (board certified or board eligible, including ABVP) focused on mixed/livestock species.
  • Demonstrated strong interest or experience in veterinary education and students.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.
  • Able to use a computer proficiently (Microsoft Office products).

Responsibilities

  • Teaching & Student Engagement: Develop and deliver content in laboratory sessions for years 1‑3 DVM students; develop and participate in OSCEs; mentor student development and practice.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Facilitate laboratory sessions; provide didactic instruction to support development of communication and professional skills; develop and participate in OSCEs.
  • Integrated Problems: Develop and deliver case‑based content to years 1‑3 DVM students to develop clinical reasoning and critical thinking.
  • Course Management: Collaborate with the Clinical Skills Team to assist with course administration and support clinical skills team, including organizing and managing laboratory sessions, creating and updating lab manuals, and assisting with animal care and use protocols (IACUC).
  • Integrated Problems: Assist course coordinator with course delivery and help other faculty create and post case‑based content using general practice cases.
  • All Threads: Coordinate and collect assessment data to guide student support and continuous improvement; administer and grade assessments (OSCEs, Entrustable Professional Activities, Team‑Based Learning activities, in‑class & out‑of‑class assignments).
  • General Program Support: Assist in planning and delivery of the Summer program focused on Spectrum of Care training.
  • Help teach and coordinate elective courses related to the Spectrum of Care certificate.

Overview

The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking dedicated and experienced veterinary general practitioners to join our faculty as a Veterinary Curriculum Instructor (Lecturer, full‑time, teaching). This position is ideal for a veterinarian with a strong clinical background and a passion for teaching and mentorship. Applicants must demonstrate a minimum of three (3) years experience in general veterinary practice or mixed/livestock species specialized practice (board certified or board eligible), and must also demonstrate leadership skills, strong collaborative effort, effective communication, and sound clinical reasoning/judgement. Applicants must have a DVM or equivalent degree from an accredited institution and must be able to obtain and maintain an Ohio Veterinary License.

Key Responsibilities
