Uptown Animal Hospital in Gig Harbor is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians, ensuring the safety and comfort of pets and clients during visits. The role is full-time and pays $21–$27 per hour based on experience and schedule.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or GED and NAVTA-approved program preferred, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a non-licensed technician. We offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for CE.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as a non-licensed technician.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and industry-related internet sites.
• Strong written, verbal, and listening communication with customers.
• Basic mathematical skills for drug and fluid dosage.

Responsabilités

• Prepare exam rooms, equipment and surgery areas between appointments.
• Gather patient information and update medical records.
• Restrain and handle animals gently during procedures.
• Assist Veterinarians during examinations, procedures and treatments.
• Obtain and process samples for diagnostic testing and document results.
• Administer injections and medications under supervision of a Veterinarian.
• Maintain clean and organized cages and boarding areas.
• Provide client education on general pet care and procedures.
• Support a collaborative team and comply with practice policies.
