The Veterinary Assistant helps veterinarians and technicians provide compassionate care, manage patient records, and educate pet owners. Role requires a high school diploma or GED, NAVTA‑approved program preferred, and at least one year of pet-care experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Certificate of NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program preferred
• One+ year experience in a pet care setting required
• Broad knowledge of animal science and basic pharmacology
• Excellent communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Foster a culture built on Respect, Learning, Do the Right Thing, WOW Service and Fun
• Prepare exam rooms and surgery areas, disinfect equipment
• Obtain patient information and medical histories; document records
• Calm and restrain pets during procedures; monitor vital signs post-surgery
• Educate owners on care, medications and post-visit instructions
• Maintain clean kennels, boarding areas and general hospital cleanliness
• Assist veterinarians and technicians with routine procedures
• Provide high-quality care and exceptional service while maximizing productivity
• Support teamwork and compliance with policies and standards
• Perform additional duties as requested
