Uptown Animal Hospital in Gig Harbor is a growing General Practice and Urgent Care Hybrid facility seeking a Veterinary Assistant. The role supports vets and techs, helps keep pets safe during visits, and assists with exams, vaccinations, and patient education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• ONE+ year of experience in a pet care setting.
• NAVTA-approved Vet Assistant program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Foster a culture built on Respect, Learning, Do the Right Thing, WOW Service and Fun.
• Prepare exam rooms and surgical areas; maintain equipment and cleanliness.
• Obtain patient history and vaccination records; document updates.
• Calm and restrain pets as needed during procedures.
• Record examination results and update records under supervision.
• Educate clients on pet care, medications, and follow-up steps.
• Monitor pets’ status after procedures and in boarding.
• Assist with basic health checks and routine lab tests.
• Assist veterinarians and technicians; perform tasks within scope.
• Ensure accurate dosing and safe administration of medications.
