Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health in Anchorage, Alaska, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant for a full-time position at our Emergency and Urgent Care facility. The role blends hands-on patient care with client service at a busy hospital, with a schedule that includes weekends off and weekday flexibility.

You will support doctors, assist with surgeries and nursing care, perform in-house lab work, and ensure compassionate client interactions while maintaining accurate records.

Qualifications

  • Minimum one year of experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Technician.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with compassion, efficiency, and flexibility.
  • Strong communication and multitasking skills; able to balance client interactions with patient care.
  • Familiarity with office software, phone systems, and scheduling preferred.
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with consultations and treatments under the direction of the attending doctor.
  • Provide surgical and nursing care, including catheter placement, medication administration, and monitoring hospitalized patients.
  • Perform in-house lab work (sample collection, analysis, reporting).
  • Ensure patient comfort and safety at all times.
  • Communicate clearly with clients about their pet's status and progress.
  • Answer incoming calls and emails; handle client inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow.
  • Greet and check clients in/out, process payments, and maintain accurate client records.
  • Actively listen to client concerns and offer appropriate support and solutions.
  • Help manage a busy lobby environment with both clients and their pets.
  • Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams.
  • Contribute to a positive, team-focused hospital culture.

Schedule: Sunday, Monday, Tuesday + 1 Other weekday of your choice! (No Weekends, No Overnights!) Pet Emergency Treatment Urgent Care is seeking a skilled and motivated Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join our team! This hybrid role combines hands-on patient care with client service at our busy emergency and urgent care hospital. You'll be a key part of our medical team, supporting doctors and patients with excellent nursing care, while also ensuring our clients have a welcoming, compassionate, and efficient front desk experience.

In Your Day-to-day, You Will
Clinical/Patient Care
