Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tukwila, WA is seeking knowledgeable Veterinary Assistants for our fast-paced emergency department. Schedule options include Mon/Tue/Thu overnights, Sun-Tue swing, or Sun/Thu/Fri/Sat daytime. Pay ranges $23.61–$32.82/hr, with differential pay for eligible nights/weekends.

Shift differentials: Mon-Fri nights $4; Sat/Sun nights $5.50; Sat/Sun day $4.00. visa sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and monitor therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exams and monitor heart rate, pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature and respiration.
• Possess working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with ASA I or II cases.
• Stay current on RECOVER CPR guidelines and follow assigned roles.

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Assistants to join our fast-paced emergency department in Tukwila, WA!

Schedule (3 options available): Monday, Tuesday, Thursday (Overnight) / Sunday-Tuesday (Swing) / Sunday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (Daytime)

Pay: $23.61 - $32.82 /Hr

This pay band is a starting point and is dependent on experience and advancement through Kahuna leveling system.

We also offer competitive shift differential pay for eligible hours worked for nights and weekends.

*Shift differentials are based on a 4-hour minimum.

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $5.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.00 Shift Differential

Our Veterinary Assistants triage emergency cases as they come in and assist DVM with crafting and going overestimates as needed. In addition, they perform diagnostics (radiographs, labwork , etc ), setting patients up in ICU or Inpatient ward, discharging patients, and handling client communication.

As an Emergency Veterinary Assistant , you will:

• Provide nursing care to patients according to hospital standards of care and core values.
• Report patient signalment, problem list and plan during nursing rounds.
• Understand classification of commonly used medications, associated side effects and appropriately monitors therapeutic response.
• Administer medications via appropriate routes and duration.
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Possess a working knowledge of anesthesia/monitoring equipment and assist with patients assigned ASA I or II classifications.
• Remain current on R.E.C.O.V.E.R CPR guidelines and demonstrates proficiency in designated role as assigned by attending clinician and/or supervisor.
