Job summary

Urban Animal in Seattle operates two fast-paced, walk-in clinics with appointment options, delivering compassionate care for cats and dogs. The firm is building a worker cooperative with governance to shape jobs and care delivery in a collaborative workplace.

As a Veterinary Assistant, you will take vital signs, present estimates to clients, restrain animals for exams, perform radiographs, collect samples, vaccinate, assist in surgery, and support team efficiency while growing professionally

Qualifications

• Experience working as a veterinary assistant (required) - background in emergency/referral or specialty practices is a plus
• Ability to maintain positive and cooperative relationships with team members
• Stress management skills in a busy, fast-paced team atmosphere
• Interest in pursuing individualized professional goals

Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs and history for exams
• Creates and presents estimates to clients
• Safely restrains cats and dogs for exams, diagnostics, and treatments
• Takes radiographs with proper positioning and technique
• Prepares and submits laboratory samples
• Draws up and administers vaccines, SQ or IM injections, and SQ fluids
• Performs ear cleaning and medicating, nail trims, anal gland expression
• Prints prescription labels and fills medications
• Assists in surgery and treatment areas
