The Pet Hospital of La Mesa, part of AmeriVet Veterinary Partners, is seeking a compassionate, reliable Full-Time Veterinary Assistant to join our team in La Mesa, CA. We provide comprehensive care for dogs and cats, including wellness visits, dentistry, diagnostics, surgery, and medical treatment.

You will assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care, prep rooms, monitor patients, and maintain records, while delivering excellent client service in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years experience as a Veterinary Assistant
• Experience with assisting in surgery and with anesthesia
• Experience assisting with dental procedures
• A genuine interest in animal health and welfare
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Compassionate, patient, and professional demeanor with animals and their owners
• Dependable, organized, and attentive to detail
• Ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working collaboratively as part of a team
• Basic computer skills and willingness to learn veterinary software
• Willingness to learn new clinical skills and accept feedback
• Ability to safely handle and restrain animals and meet the physical demands of the position

Responsabilités

• Assist Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians with patient care and treatments
• Safely handle and restrain animals during examinations and procedures
• Prepare examination rooms, patients, and treatment areas
• Obtain and record patient weights and basic vital signs as trained
• Assist with laboratory sample collection and diagnostic procedures
• Help prepare patients for surgery and other procedures
• Assist with patient monitoring and recovery under the direction of the medical team
• Administer medications and treatments as directed and within the permitted scope of practice
• Clean, disinfect, and maintain examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment
• Restock supplies and help maintain an organized hospital
• Maintain accurate patient records and follow hospital protocols
• Communicate professionally and compassionately with clients
• Support veterinarians, technicians, and other team members as needed

Compensation

Compensation is $18-$20/hr, depending on experience.
