Cabrillo Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Technician to join our San Diego team. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and loves animals, with experience in rooming patients, surgical assistance, blood draws, and in-house lab work.

You will handle radiography, proper animal handling and restraint, and provide excellent client education as part of a supportive, AAHA-accredited practice offering care, boarding, and a pet store.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting.
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with animals and their owners.
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint, Fear Free preferred
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
• Perform basic exam procedures
• Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
• Digital radiology (X-ray) positioning
• General anesthesia and surgical assisting experience
• Laboratory skills with in-house equipment
• Ultrasound to obtain diagnostic images preferred
• Excellent client communication/education
• Ability to document medical records accurately and thoroughly

Responsibilities

• Room patients and prepare them for examination and procedures.
• Assist in surgical cases including induction, anesthesia, and monitoring.
• Perform venipuncture and IV catheter placement.
• Take and position radiographs (X-ray) as needed.
• Conduct in-house lab work and cytology.
• Maintain accurate medical records and histories.
• Educate clients on care and treatment plans.

Cabrillo Pet Hospital is currently looking to hire a Veterinary Technician to join our team! Our ideal candidate will be a dependable, detail-oriented team player who loves animals and being part of a fun, supportive team. They will have experience in rooming patients, surgical assisting experience and knowledge of equipment used, drawing blood and running lab work, knowledge of x-rays and proper positioning, experience with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and motivating team member.

Salary: $20-25 per hour, depending on experience, certifications, education, and licensure. Dental experience Schedule: Full-time or Part-Time available. Location: 4134 Voltaire St, San Diego, CA 92107

Who You Are

• 3+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting

• Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
• Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
• Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); in-house laboratory equipment
• Ability to utilize ultrasound to obtain diagnostic images and urine samples preferred
• Excellent client communication/education
• Ability to perform Technician appointments independently, including accurate medical record documentation
