Cabrillo Pet Hospital in San Diego, CA, is hiring a Veterinary Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented and experienced in rooming patients, surgical assisting, venipuncture, lab work, x-ray positioning, and proper animal handling.

We value client education and a positive, motivating team member. We offer full-time and part-time schedules with competitive hourly pay between $20 and $25, depending on experience, certifications, education, and licensure.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with animals and their owners
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint, Fear Free preferred
• Understand the importance of excellent communication and organizational skills
• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
• Perform basic exam procedures
• Venipuncture and IV catheter placement
• Digital radiology (X-ray) positioning
• General anesthesia and surgical assisting experience
• Laboratory skills including microscopy and in-house lab equipment
• Ultrasound to obtain diagnostic images is preferred

• Operate x-ray and ultrasound equipment and assist during procedures

They will have experience in rooming patients, surgical assisting experience and knowledge of equipment used, drawing blood and running lab work, knowledge of x-rays and proper positioning, experience with proper animal handling and restraint, understanding the importance of client education, and being a positive and motivating team member.

We are a large, multi-service practice offering veterinary services, boarding & day camp, and a pet store in beautiful San Diego, California. We are proudly AAHA accredited and have been serving the Point Loma and Ocean Beach community since 1975.

Who You Are

• 3+ years of veterinary experience in a clinical setting
• Knowledge of industry tools and equipment
• Passion for working with animals and their owners
• Experience with proper animal handling and restraint, Fear Free preferred

• Obtain accurate and thorough medical histories
• Perform basic exam procedures
• Skilled in venipuncture and Intravenous (IV) catheter placement (cephalic, saphenous, and jugular)
• Able to perform digital radiology (X-ray) including positioning
• Comfortable with general anesthesia and surgical assisting (induction, intubation, monitoring, aseptic technique)
• Laboratory skills including microscope (ear and fecal cytology); in-house laboratory equipment
• Ability to utilize ultrasound to obtain diagnostic images and urine samples preferred
• Excellent client communication/education
• Ability to perform Technician appointments independently, including accurate medical record documentation
