Job summary

Pinnacle Animal Hospital in the Asheville area is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care, monitoring hospitalized pets, and assisting with surgeries. The role includes educating clients and maintaining accurate lab work and inventory.

The ideal candidate will work 1-2 Saturdays per month (7:45am - 12:15pm) with a Monday–Friday schedule, and must be capable of lifting up to 25 pounds and following PPE safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Weekend availability required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds safely.
• Must follow OSHA PPE standards.
• Basic math for calculating dosages.
• Basic computer skills and familiarity with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and maintain inventory.
• Prepare prescriptions and perform in-house lab work.
• Educate clients on veterinary care and procedures.
• Assist with surgical procedures and anesthesia as directed.
• Maintain clean exam rooms, treatment, and lab areas and restock supplies.
