Job summary

West Asheville Family Vet is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in patient care and treatment. You will monitor hospitalized pets, assist with surgeries, and educate clients on veterinary care and procedures.

Responsibilities include handling samples, lab work, radiographs, and assisting with anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments while maintaining clean, organized workspaces and ensuring strong client communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and assist in outpatient exams.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Collect samples and perform in-hospital lab work; prep specimens for external labs.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs with safety protocols.
• Assist with anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Keep exam rooms and labs clean and stocked; support team members.
• Maintain warmth, courtesy, and professionalism with clients and patients.
• Document communications with veterinarians and clients; relay patient plans.
