Akron-Medina Veterinary Hospital and Pet Resort in Medina, OH is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care and procedures. You will monitor hospitalized pets, assist with exams, and help educate clients while maintaining equipment and supplies.

The role emphasizes teamwork, accuracy in lab work, radiography, and safe handling of patients. Weekend availability and basic math for dosages are required, with opportunities for growth and development.

Qualifications

• Weekend work availability as required.
• Prior veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds, with assistance for heavier loads.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety techniques and PPE.
• Basic math for calculating medication dosages.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with medicine and surgery tasks as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vitals during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-hospital lab tests; prep for outside labs.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Maintain clean, stocked exam and lab areas; support team and clients.
• Communicate with clients and team about plans and concerns.
• Provide warmth and professionalism in all interactions.
