Job summary

Inland Valley Humane Society & S.P.C.A. is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support the Veterinary Services team in caring for shelter animals and assisting with surgery prep and recovery.

You will help with examinations and daily health checks, and maintain supplies and facilities within the Veterinary Department. Qualified candidates will have a High School diploma or equivalent; 1 year veterinary assistant experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred: 1 year veterinary assistant experience.
• Knowledge of neonatal/bottle baby care and animal handling.
• Ability to administer injections and assist with radiographic techniques.

Responsibilities

• Observe shelter animals for illness or injury and report findings.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor recovery.
• Assist veterinarians and RVTs with examinations and treatments.
• Perform animal health checks and maintain department facilities.
• Maintain inventory of medications and supplies and clean animal enclosures.
• Support euthanasia when appropriate and assist with related procedures.
