Job summary

The Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in daily patient care and treatment. You will monitor hospitalized patients, perform routine in-house lab work, and educate clients on procedures and care.

Responsibilities include assisting with surgeries, handling and restraining animals, taking vital signs, collecting samples, and ensuring a clean, organized work environment while maintaining a compassionate, professional demeanor.

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary experience required.
• Ability to work on weekends as required.
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; assistance needed for heavier lifts.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medical and surgical procedures.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams; educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-hospital lab testing; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take, develop, and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restraint during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments per veterinarian's direction.
• Clean and stock exam rooms; maintain equipment and educational interactions with clients.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism in all client and patient interactions.
