Job summary

VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced surgery veterinary assistant to join our Surgery team on a full-time basis at our Ithaca, NY location. We are a hybrid hospital located in the Finger Lakes region, serving 24/7/365 and supporting doctors and technicians in providing advanced care.

You will perform primary scrub nurse duties, assist with OR turnover and instrument sterilization, and support the DVM and LVT in surgery prep and morning SOAPs, while ensuring a positive,

  • Experience as a surgery veterinary assistant preferred.
  • Ability to work full-time in a hospital setting.

Job description

VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced surgery veterinary assistant to join our Surgery team full time.

We are a hybrid hospital and proud to be one of the premier providers of primary, specialty and emergency care located in the heart of the beautiful Finger Lakes region in Upstate New York.

Our 17 doctor hospital serves our clients 24/7/365. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about providing advanced care and management of patients in a specialty setting. In this position you will be supporting our Doctors and Technician team by creating a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.

Surgery Veterinary Assistant Duties Include
  • Primary scrub nurse duties
  • Turn over OR and autoclave instruments
  • Assisting LVT with surgery prep
  • Assisting DVM with morning SOAPs
  • Hands Free Radiology
  • Greeting clients and patient discharge
  • Client education and communication
Potential Schedule:

Full-time

Compensation:

$19 – 21 /hour dependent on experience and skill set.
