VCA Colonial Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced surgery veterinary assistant to join our Surgery team on a full-time basis at our Ithaca, NY location. We are a hybrid hospital located in the Finger Lakes region, serving 24/7/365 and supporting doctors and technicians in providing advanced care.

You will perform primary scrub nurse duties, assist with OR turnover and instrument sterilization, and support the DVM and LVT in surgery prep and morning SOAPs, while ensuring a positive,

Qualifications

• Experience as a surgery veterinary assistant preferred.
• Ability to work full-time in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Primary scrub nurse duties (assisting during surgery).
• Turn over OR and autoclave instruments.
• Assisting LVT with surgery prep.
• Assisting DVM with morning SOAPs.
• Hands Free Radiology.
• Greeting clients and patient discharge.
• Client education and communication.
