Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians and ensure patient safety and continuous high-quality care. You will help manage patient flow, assist with procedures, and educate clients on preventive care while upholding hospital standards.

The role emphasizes teamwork, mentorship, and adherence to NAVTA guidelines. A NAVTA-approved program or equivalent and a high school diploma are preferred, with compensation reflecting experience and location.

Qualifications

• NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Ability to perform NAVTA-approved skills at practice level

Responsibilities

• Help maintain the flow of patients
• Communicate with the veterinarian and vet techs
• Carry out or set up procedures that do not require veterinarian or vet tech assistance
• Adhere to hospital standards that keep pets safe and keep treatment areas, exam rooms and labs clean and organized
• Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans and preventive care
• Mentor other hospital team members
