Westport Animal Clinic in Topeka, KS is hiring a Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to support our medical team and provide a welcoming client experience. The position combines hands-on patient care, front desk duties, and kennel tasks to keep the hospital running smoothly.

We offer hands-on training, opportunities for professional development, and a starting pay of $15/hr plus experience-based adjustments. Part-time and full-time positions are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year of veterinary assistant or veterinary client service experience preferred but not required.
• Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented with a positive attitude.
• Strong communication, customer service, and multitasking skills.
• Ability to safely handle and restrain dogs and cats of all sizes.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians with patient exams, treatments, surgical preparation, and animal restraint.
• Collect laboratory samples, administer medications, and monitor hospitalized patients.
• Welcome clients, answer phones, schedule appointments, and communicate treatment plans.
• Maintain accurate medical records and process client payments.
• Provide daily care for hospitalized and boarding pets, including feeding, walking, bathing, medicating, and cleaning kennels.
• Clean and disinfect hospital areas, restock supplies, and assist with laundry and general hospital upkeep.
• Support a clean, safe, and compassionate environment for patients, clients, and teammates.
