Churchville Veterinary Clinic in Harford County, Maryland, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality patient care. The role focuses on animal handling, basic care, and daily clinical tasks within a busy practice.

The ideal candidate will be 18+, have a high school diploma, and thrive in a fast-paced environment while demonstrating strong communication, multitasking, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication, multitasking and collaboration skills.
• Veterinary experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for hospitalized patients, including feeding, water, exercise and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
• Safely handle patients for examination, diagnostic testing and various treatments.
• Fill, dispense and administer medications accurately and safely under the direction of the treating provider.
• Collect lab samples including blood, feces and urine for transport to the lab or in-house diagnostics, and run basic in-house tests such as blood work and urinalysis.
• Perform outpatient services such as nail trims, anal gland expressions and sanitary trims.
• Complete medical records, estimates and treatment plans with accuracy and thoroughness.
• Prepare exam rooms, treatment areas and surgical suites.
• Clean and sterilize instruments and maintain equipment and materials.
• Support client interactions, including basic education, reviewing estimates and treatment plans and communicating discharge instructions.
• Assist in maintaining adequate stock of necessary inventories and supplies throughout the hospital.
• Utilize telephones and electronic medical records systems.
• Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments and answering phones.
• Additional duties as required
