Job summary

Bellevue Veterinary Emergency & Specialty is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant for the Internal Medicine Department. Assist veterinarians, prep treatment areas, and support triage and nursing care in a fast-paced emergency setting.

You will contribute to high-quality patient care, maintain accurate vitals, and communicate clearly with clients about status and discharge instructions, while upholding hospital protocols and team collaboration.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Active Washington State Medication Clerk License preferred.
• Certificate from NAVTA-approved Veterinary Assistant program preferred.
• 1–2 years of internal medicine experience as a veterinary assistant preferred.
• Knowledge of veterinary hospital practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and licensed technicians with emergency procedures, treatments, and medical care for animals.
• Prepare and maintain treatment areas, ensuring cleanliness and stocking of supplies.
• Perform triage, history taking, basic nursing care, and discharges.
• Take and record vital signs and administer medications.
• Communicate with clients to provide updates on pet status and discharge instructions.
