Job summary

National Veterinary Associates is seeking a veterinary assistant to support the veterinary team with patient care, treatment, and client communication at our Redlands hospital. This role involves assisting with exams and procedures, restraining animals, prepping supplies, and maintaining a clean, safe work environment.

You will monitor hospitalized pets, assist with routine diagnostic tests, feed and bathe animals, answer phones, and help clients with their pets.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old or older.
• Self-starter, able to multitask and a team player.
• Genuinely enjoys working with animals and can handle stressed/ill or in pain animals.
• Experience required (1 year minimum).
• Ability to meet physical demands: lift up to 40 lbs, stand for extended periods.
• Works well with all levels of hospital team members.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets / aid after surgery.
• Maintain inventory and stocking.
• Restrain animals during blood draws and nail trims.
• Assist with routine diagnostic tests (radiographs, bloodwork, fecal).
• Sterilize surgical instruments/equipment.
• Clean/Disinfect cages, kennels, exam and treatment areas.
• Administer medications under Veterinarian/Vet Tech supervision.
• Feeding/bathing animals.
• Answering phones.
• Helping clients with their pets.
