Job summary

Veterinary Emergency Center of Redlands, part of the Veterinary Innovative Partners network, is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to support our veterinary team and ensure excellent care for animal patients and a positive client experience.

You will assist with animal handling, exam room preparation, procedure support, radiography, and patient record-keeping in our newly built, state-of-the-art facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with animals, preferably in a veterinary setting.
• Strong animal handling skills and comfort working with a variety of species.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to follow directions closely.
• Basic understanding of veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
• Ability to multitask, stay organized, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
• Physical stamina to lift and carry animals, stand for extended periods, and perform cleaning tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinary technicians and veterinarians with animal restraint, medication administration, and sample collection.
• Maintain a clean, organized clinic by disinfecting surfaces and sanitizing equipment.
• Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are well-stocked.
• Greet and assist clients, helping them feel welcome and comfortable during their visit.
• Escort clients and their pets to exam rooms and collect preliminary information such as medical history.
• Provide support during medical procedures, including setting up equipment and monitoring pets.
• Prepare and label laboratory samples following proper protocols.
• Assist with radiography by positioning animals and operating equipment.
• Educate clients on medications, preventive care, and post-operative instructions.
• Keep accurate records of patient care and treatments.
• Assist with inventory management and restocking supplies.
• Participate in maintaining a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.
