Job summary

WellHaven Pet Health in Bend, OR, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant who supports veterinarians and techs, helps educate clients, and maintains high standards of care for patients.

We value teamwork, reliability, and strong communication. Duties include assisting with surgical procedures, dental care, venipuncture, receiving clients, scheduling, medical charting, and maintaining a clean, organized hospital environment. 6+ months veterinary experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6+ months of experience in the veterinary industry.
• NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in veterinary technical skills (anesthesia, dentistry, surgery, labs).
• Maintain hospital efficiency and client education.
• Handle reception duties (phone, scheduling, intake, discharge).
• Maintain medical charts and inventory; ensure sterile environment.
• Educate clients on Wellness Plans and pet care.
• Ensure duties completed before end of shift.
